Fault-Local Distributed Mending

چکیده
As communication networks grow, existing fault handling tools that involve global measures such as global time-outs or reset procedures become increasingly unaffordable, since their cost grows with the size of the network. Rather, for a fault handling mechanism to scale to large networks, its cost must depend only on the Ž number of failed nodes which, thanks to today’s technology, grows much more . slowly than the networks . Moreover, it should allow the nonfaulty regions of the networks to continue their operation even during the recovery of the faulty parts. This paper introduces the concepts fault locality and fault-locally mendable probŽ lems, which are problems for which there are correction algorithms applied after . Ž . faults whose cost depends only on the unknown number of faults. We show that any input-output problem is fault-locally mendable. The solution involves a novel technique combining data structures and ‘‘local votes’’ among nodes, which may be of interest in itself. Q 1999 Academic Press

Tight Fault Locality (Extended Abstract)
The notion of fault local mending was suggested as a paradigm for designing fault tolerant algorithms that scale to large networks. For such algorithms the complexity of recovering is proportional to the number of faults. We refine this notion by introducing the concept of tight fault locality to deal with problems whose complexity (in the absence of faults) is sublinear in the size of the netw...
متن کاملTight Fault Locality
This paper lays a theoretical foundation for scaling fault tolerant tasks to large and diversiied networks, such as the Internet. In such networks, there are always parts of the network that failed. On the other hand, various subtasks interest only parts of the network, and it is desirable that those parts, if nonfaulty, do not suuer from faults in other parts. Our approach is to reene the prev...
متن کاملTransient Stability Enhancement in Microgrids Including Inverter Interfaced Distributed Generations
With increasing the presence of Microgrids (MGs) in the power systems, investigating the MG stability during transient faults is necessary. This study investigates the transient stability analysis of a MG supplied by multiple inverter interfaced distributed generations (IIDGs) during fault. The transient stability of a MG is highly depends on the IIDGs control strategy. A MG, simulated on Matla...
متن کاملDistributed Adaptive Fault-Tolerant Consensus Control of Multi-Agent Systems with Actuator Faults
This paper presents an adaptive fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme for leader-follower consensus control of uncertain mobile agents with actuator faults. A local FTC component is designed for each agent in the distributed system by using local measurements and certain information exchanged between neighboring agents. Each local FTC component consists of a fault detection module and a reconfigu...
متن کاملA local measurement-based protection scheme for DER integrated DC microgrid using Bagging Tree
In recent years, DC microgrid has attracted considerable attention of the research community because of the wide usage of DC power-based appliances. However, the acceptance of DC microgrid by power utilities is still limited due to the issues associated with the development of a reliable protection scheme. The high magnitude of DC fault current, its rapid rate of rising and absence of zero cros...
